Website News - End of Subscriptions

Hello everybody,

I have some news specifically regarding this website (www.whitephantomgames.co.uk), which will no longer directly host content or offer subscriptions from the end of May.

The v.0.20 update will still be released, and you will still get it this Saturday as normal if you have subscribed.

Going forwards from June however, all subscriptions will be cancelled and you will need to go to Patreon or SubscribeStar for subscriptions and BETA Scenes, or download from Steam for future updates.

The primary reason for this is the Online Safety Act and the Labour Party of the United Kingdom's enforcement of it.

DLC does contain some adult scenes, so I am now legally required to add age verification to my website to continue subscriptions here, and as a UK Resident I have no choice but to abide by their regulations.

I cannot afford the costs of using one of the major, reputable companies, which leaves me in the position of using the sketchy cheap ones, or trying to manually do it myself.

Either of the latter options could lead to a serious privacy breach, I don't want to be collecting people's IDs, and I don't want anybody providing them to the dodgy, cheap age verification companies either as undoubtedly they'll be leaked/hacked/mishandled at some point.

Patreon, SubscribeStar and Steam all supply their own site-wide age verification properly and the responsibility lies with them as part of the fees I already pay them, so by moving to these sites it removes the need for me to do it myself and let's me focus on completing the game.

If you have been a long time continuous subscriber here, please send me an email to contact@whitephantomgames.co.uk from your subscribed email address, and I will arrange for you to receive a Steam Key to continue receiving updates.

Going forwards the website will move to a more streamlined, news based page only, with all content on these three sites and information here, or on Discord and X.
